Hadith 5124

أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ حَمَلَ عَلَى فَرَسٍ لَهُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، فَوَجَدَهُ يُبَاعُ ، فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَبْتَاعَهُ ، فَسَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ : " لا تَبْتَعْهُ ، وَلا تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates: Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) gave his horse as charity in the way of Allah. Later, he found that horse being sold, so he intended to buy it. He asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about this matter. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Do not buy it, and do not take back your charity.
