Adi Kindi, who belonged to Banu Arqam, narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O people! Whoever among you is appointed by us for any task (such as collecting zakat, etc.) and then hides from us even a needle or anything above that, then when he comes on the Day of Resurrection, he will be a traitor." Then a black man stood up—this scene is as if still before my eyes. I think he was an Ansari. He submitted: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Please take back the responsibility you have given me." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Why?" He replied: "I have just heard you say this." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I still say the same: Whoever we appoint as an overseer for any task, he should bring everything, whether little or much. He should take what is given to him, and refrain from what is forbidden to him."
