Hadith 5069

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ آدَمَ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ مَوْلَى خَالِدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الآيَةُ : إِنْ تُبْدُوا مَا فِي أَنْفُسِكُمْ أَوْ تُخْفُوهُ يُحَاسِبْكُمْ بِهِ اللَّهُ سورة البقرة آية 284 ، دَخَلَ قُلُوبَهُمْ مِنْهَا شَيْءٌ لَمْ يَدْخُلْهُ مِنْ شَيْءٍ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " قُولُوا سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا وَسَلَّمْنَا " ، فَأَلْقَى اللَّهُ الإِيمَانَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ : آمَنَ الرَّسُولُ بِمَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ رَبِّهِ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ سورة البقرة آية 285 الآيَةَ ، وَقَالَ : رَبَّنَا لا تُؤَاخِذْنَا إِنْ نَسِينَا أَوْ أَخْطَأْنَا سورة البقرة آية 286 ، قَالَ : " قَدْ فَعَلْتُ " ، رَبَّنَا وَلا تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْنَا إِصْرًا كَمَا حَمَلْتَهُ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِنَا سورة البقرة آية 286 ، قَالَ : " قَدْ فَعَلْتُ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When this verse was revealed: "Whether you disclose what is in your hearts or conceal it, Allah will call you to account for it," the people became extremely distressed due to the revelation of this verse. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Say, "We have heard and we obey, and we have submitted." So Allah placed faith in their hearts, and Allah revealed this verse: "The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and so have the believers." In it are also these words (they say): "Our Lord! Do not take us to task if we forget or make a mistake." So Allah said: I have done so. (And in it is also this supplication): "Our Lord, do not lay upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us." So the Lord said: I have done so.
