Hadith 5034

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنْ بِعْتَ مِنْ أَخِيكَ ثَمَرًا ، فَأَصَابَتْهُ جَائِحَةٌ ، فَلا يَحِلُّ لَكَ أَنْ تَأْخُذَ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا بِمَ تَأْخُذُ مِنْ مَالِ أَخِيكَ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ " ، قُلْتُ لأَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ : هَلْ سَمَّى لَكُمُ الْجَوَائِحَ ؟ ، قَالَ : لا .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If you buy fruit from your brother and it is afflicted by a calamity, then it is not permissible for you to take anything from it. On what basis would you wrongfully take from your brother’s wealth?
The narrator states: I asked my teacher Abu Zubair: Did your teacher mention the name of the affliction that occurs? He replied: No, he did not.
