أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ أَبِي جَمِيلٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي الرِّجَالِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَمْرَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : دَخَلَتِ امْرَأَةٌ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَتْ : بِأَبِي وَأُمِّي ، إِنِّي ابْتَعْتُ أَنَا وَابْنِي مِنْ فُلانٍ ثَمَرَ مَالِهِ ، فَأَحْصَيْنَاهُ ، لا وَالَّذِي أَكْرَمَكَ بِمَا أَكْرَمَكَ بِهِ مَا أَحْصَيْنَا مِنْهُ شَيْئًا إِلا شَيْئًا نَأْكُلُهُ فِي بُطُونِنَا أَوْ نُطْعِمُ مِسْكِينًا رَجَاءَ الْبَرَكَةِ ، وَجِئْنَا نَسْتَوْضِعُهُ مَا نَقَصْنَا ، فَحَلَفَ بِاللَّهِ لا يَضَعُ لَنَا شَيْئًا ، فَقَالَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " تَأَلَّى لا يَصْنَعُ خَيْرًا ! " ، ثَلاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ، قَالَتْ : فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ صَاحِبَ الثَّمَرِ ، فَقَالَ : بِأَبِي وَأُمِّي ، إِنْ شِئْتَ وَضَعْتُ مَا نَقَصُوا ، وَإِنْ شِئْتَ مِنْ رَأْسِ الْمَالِ ، فَوَضَعَ مَا نَقَصُوا .
Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: A woman came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). She said: May my parents be sacrificed for you. I and my son bought the fruit (of a garden or land) from such-and-such person. We counted it. By the One who granted you such greatness and honor, we either ate it ourselves to fill our stomachs or, hoping for blessing, fed it to some poor person. Then we came and, regarding our loss, requested a reduction (in payment) from him, but he swore by the name of Allah that he would not grant us any forgiveness. So the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: He has sworn this oath; he will not do good. The Prophet said this three times. Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: News of this reached the owner of the fruit, so he said: May my parents be sacrificed for you; if you wish, I forgive them for the loss they incurred, and if you wish, I forgive the entire payment. So that person forgave them the payment according to their loss.
