Hadith 5016

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ الأَنْصَارِيُّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لا تَبِيعُوا الذَّهَبَ بِالذَّهَبِ إِلا مِثْلا بِمِثْلٍ ، وَلا تُشِفُّوا بَعْضَهَا عَلَى بَعْضٍ ، وَلا تَبِيعُوا الْوَرِقَ بِالْوَرِقِ إِلا مِثْلا بِمِثْلٍ ، وَلا تُشِفُّوا بَعْضَهَا عَلَى بَعْضٍ ، وَلا تَبِيعُوا شَيْئًا مِنْهَا غَائِبًا بِنَاجِزٍ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Sell gold for gold only in equal amounts; do not make one side more than the other. Sell silver for silver only in equal amounts; do not make one side less than the other. And do not sell any of these present items for something that is absent."
