Hadith 4977

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَرُوبَةَ بِحَرَّانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْعُمَرِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ بَيْعِ الْحَصَاةِ " ، قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : بَيْعُ الْحَصَاةِ ، أَنْ يَأْتِيَ الرَّجُلُ إِلَى قَطِيعِ غَنَمٍ أَوْ عَدَدِ دَوَابَّ أَوْ جَمَاعَةِ رَقِيقٍ ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ لِلْبَائِعِ : اخْذِفْ بِحَصَاتِي هَذِهِ ، فَكُلُّ مَنْ وَقَعَ عَلَيْهِ حَصَاتِي هَذِهِ فَهُوَ لِي بِكَذَا وَكَذَا .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade the sale involving pebbles. (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The sale involving pebbles is this: A man comes to a flock of goats or a group of some animals and then says to the seller: I will throw this pebble, so whichever animal this pebble falls upon, it will be mine for such and such amount.
