Ibn Wahla narrates: He asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) about that which is extracted from grapes. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) informed that a man presented a wineskin of wine as a gift to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Do you not know that Allah Almighty has forbidden its consumption?" That man whispered something to a person beside him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What did you say to him in a whisper?" He replied: "I advised him to sell it." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Indeed, (Allah Almighty has) forbidden the sale of that which He has forbidden to drink." So the man opened the mouth of the wineskin until everything in it was emptied (i.e., it spilled out).
