Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Madhkur (may Allah be pleased with him) made his slave a mudabbar (i.e., set free after his death). He himself was in need. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sold that slave and said: When a person is in need, he should begin (spending) on himself. If he has something extra, he should spend on his wife and children, and if there is still something extra, he should spend on his close relatives.
