Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: There was a man from the Ansar whose name was Abu Mazkoor. He made one of his slaves a mudabbar (freed after his death). This news reached the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), so the Prophet (peace be upon him) inquired, "Does he have any wealth other than this slave?" The people replied, "No." The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, "Who will buy this slave from me?" So Sayyiduna Na’eem Nahham (may Allah be pleased with him) bought him for eight hundred dirhams. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Spend this amount on yourself, and if anything remains, spend it on your relatives. If anything still remains, then spend it here and there (i.e., in the way of Allah)."
