Hadith 4930

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنَّ رَجُلا مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ أَعْتَقَ غُلامًا لَهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ مَالٌ غَيْرُهُ ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " مَنْ يَشْتَرِيهِ مِنِّي ؟ " فَاشْتَرَاهُ نُعَيْمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ النَّحَّامُ بِثَمَانِ مِائَةِ دِرْهَمٍ فَدَفَعَهَا إِلَيْهِ ، قَالَ جَابِرٌ : كَانَ عَبْدًا قِبْطِيًّا ، مَاتَ عَامَ الأَوَّلِ .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: A man from the Ansar freed his slave. He had no other wealth besides him. This news reached the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), so the Prophet (peace be upon him) inquired, "Who will buy him from me?" Sayyiduna Nu'aym bin Abdullah Nahham (may Allah be pleased with him) bought him for eight hundred dirhams. The Prophet (peace be upon him) gave this amount to that man. Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: He was a Coptic slave who died within a year.
