Hadith 492

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لأَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ : أَكَانَتِ الْمُصَافَحَةُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " ، قَالَ قَتَادَةُ : وَكَانَ الْحَسَنُ يُصَافِحُ .
Qatadah narrates: I asked Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): Was handshaking practiced during the blessed time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? He replied: Yes.
Qatadah narrates: Hasan (al-Basri) used to shake hands.
