Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were coming from Makkah to Madinah. We camped at a place a little before Madinah, and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sell me this camel of yours. I replied: No, it is already yours. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No, you sell it to me. I replied: No, O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! It is already yours. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No, you sell it to me. I said: I owe a man one uqiyah of gold, so in exchange for that, it is yours. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I have taken it; you ride it until you reach Madinah. When I reached Madinah, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him): Give him one uqiyah of gold and pay him extra. Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: He gave me one uqiyah of gold and one qirat extra. Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) says: So I resolved that the extra payment given by the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would never be separated from me. That amount remained safe with me in a pouch, then at the incident of Harrah, the people of Shaam took it away.
