Hadith 4909

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ الْبُخَارِيُّ بِبَغْدَادَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ كَاسِبٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي فُدَيْكٍ ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْهُدَيْرِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : مَرَّ أَعْرَابِيٌّ بِشَاةٍ ، فَقُلْتُ : تَبِيعُنِيهَا بِثَلاثَةِ دَرَاهِمَ ؟ قَالَ : لا وَاللَّهِ ، ثم باعنيها ، فذكرت ذلك لرسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ، فقال : " بَاعَ آخِرَتَهُ بِدُنْيَاهُ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A Bedouin passed by with a goat. I said, "Will you sell this to me for three dirhams?" He said, "No, by Allah (I will not do so)." Then he sold me the goat. Later, I mentioned this matter to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), so he (peace be upon him) said: "He has sold his Hereafter for his worldly life."
