Hadith 4905

أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنِ الْعَلاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ مَرَّ عَلَى صُبْرَةِ طَعَامٍ ، فَأَدْخَلَ أَصَابِعَهُ فِيهَا ، فَإِذَا فِيهِ بَلَلٌ ، فَقَالَ : " مَا هَذَا يَا صَاحِبَ الطَّعَامِ ؟ " قَالَ : أَصَابَتْهُ سَمَاءٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " فَهَلا جَعَلْتَهُ فَوْقَ الطَّعَامِ حَتَّى يَرَاهُ النَّاسُ مَنْ غَشَّنَا فَلَيْسَ مِنَّا " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a heap of grain. He inserted his fingers into it and felt dampness. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: O owner of this grain, what is this? He replied: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! Rain had fallen on it. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Why did you not put this (damp part) on top so that people could see it? Whoever deceives us is not from us.
