Sayyiduna Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I was a goldsmith. I had to recover some debt from ‘As bin Wa’il. I went to him and demanded the repayment of the debt. He said to me: I will not pay your debt until you deny Muhammad (peace be upon him). Sayyiduna Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I will not deny him until you die and are resurrected again. He said: If I am resurrected after death, then I will pay your debt, because at that time my wealth and my children will be returned to me. The narrator states, so regarding this, the following verse was revealed: “Have you seen the one who denies Our signs and says, ‘I will surely be given wealth and children?’”
