Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) received spoils of war. He (peace be upon him) ordered Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), so he announced to the people three times. The people brought all the things they had received from the spoils of war. The Prophet (peace be upon him) took out the khums (one-fifth) from them and distributed the rest. After that, a man came with a bridle made of hair and said: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! This is among the things we received as spoils of war. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked: Did you not hear Bilal announce three times? He replied: Yes! The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Then why did you not bring it? He presented an excuse to the Prophet (peace be upon him), so the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: You will become such a person that you will bring it with you on the Day of Resurrection, and I will not accept it from you.
