Hadith 4853

أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدُ بْنُ مُسَرْهَدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى الْقَطَّانُ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الأَنْصَارِيِّ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حِبَّانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَمْرَةَ الأَنْصَارِيِّ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ ، أَنَّ رَجُلا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تُوُفِّيَ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ ، فَذَكَرُوهُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : صَلُّوا عَلَى صَاحِبِكُمْ ، فَتَغَيَّرَتْ وجُوهُ الْقَوْمِ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ صَاحِبَكُمْ غَلَّ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ " ، فَفَتَحْنَا مَتَاعَهُ ، فَوَجَدْنَا خَرَزًا مِنْ خَرَزِ الْيَهُودِ لا يُسَاوِي دِرْهَمَيْنِ .
Sayyiduna Zayd bin Khalid al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: One of the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed away during the Battle of Khaybar. The people mentioned his death before the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "You people perform the funeral prayer of your companion." At this, the faces of the people changed (i.e., they became worried). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Your companion committed treachery in the way of Allah." (The narrator says) When we examined his belongings, we found a necklace belonging to the Jews, which was not even worth two dirhams.
