Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) stood among us. He mentioned (the sin of) betraying the spoils of war and emphasized its seriousness. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: O people! I should never find any one of you coming on the Day of Resurrection with a camel on his neck, making noise. That person will say: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! Help me, and I will say: I can do nothing for you against Allah’s decision; I had conveyed (the message) to you. I should never find any one of you coming on the Day of Resurrection with a goat on his neck, making noise. That person will say: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! (Help me), and I will say: I can do nothing for you against Allah’s decision; I had conveyed (the message) to you. I should never find any one of you coming on the Day of Resurrection with a horse on his neck, making noise. That person will say: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! Help me, and I will say: I can do nothing for you; I had conveyed (the message) to you. I should never find any one of you coming on the Day of Resurrection with a person on his neck, crying out. That person will say: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! Help me, and I will say: I can do nothing for you; I had conveyed (the message) to you. I should never find any one of you coming on the Day of Resurrection with pieces of cloth (riqā‘) on his neck. That person will say: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! Help me, and I will say: I can do nothing for you; I had conveyed (the message) to you. I should never find any one of you coming on the Day of Resurrection with something silent on his neck. That person will say: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! Help me, and I will say: I can do nothing for you; I had conveyed (the message) to you. The word “riqā‘” refers to pieces of cloth. This was stated by Imam Abu Hatim.
