Raja bin Abu Salamah narrates: I heard Amr bin Shuaib and Sulaiman bin Musa discussing voluntary distribution (from the spoils of war). Amr said: After the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), no voluntary distribution can be made from the spoils of war. Upon this, Sulaiman bin Musa said: You remained busy eating raisins in Taif (and did not acquire knowledge). Mak'hool has narrated from Ziyad bin Jariyah Lakhmi, who reported from Sayyiduna Habib bin Maslamah Fahri (may Allah be pleased with him): "In the beginning, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) gave a quarter as a voluntary share after the khums, and on return, he gave a third after the khums."
