Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the occasion of the Battle of Hunayn, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) gave preference to some people while distributing the spoils of war. The Prophet (peace be upon him) gave Aqra' bin Habis one hundred camels, and he gave the same number (of camels) to 'Uyainah bin Hisn. The Prophet (peace be upon him) gave some Arab chiefs preferential (greater) payments. Then a man said: "By Allah! Justice has not been observed in this distribution, and Allah's pleasure has not been considered in it." (Sayyiduna Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with him, says) I said: "I will surely inform the Prophet (peace be upon him) about this." I went to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and informed him about it. The face of the Prophet (peace be upon him) changed (i.e., became red with anger), then the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "If Allah and His Messenger do not act justly, then who will act justly?" Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "May Allah have mercy on Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him); he was harmed more than this, but he remained patient." (Sayyiduna Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with him, says) I resolved: "From now on, I will never convey any such thing (of this nature) to the Prophet (peace be upon him)."
