أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَرُوبَةَ بَحْرَانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْمُرَقَّعِ بْنِ صَيْفِيٍّ ، عَنْ حَنْظَلَةَ الْكَاتِبِ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي غَزَاةٍ ، فَمَرَّ بِامْرَأَةٍ مَقْتُولَةٍ وَالنَّاسُ عَلَيْهَا ، فَقَالَ : " مَا كَانَتْ هَذِهِ لِتُقَاتِلَ ، أَدْرِكْ خَالِدًا ، فَقُلْ لَهُ : لا تَقْتُلْ ذُرِّيَّةً وَلا عَسِيفًا " ، قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : سَمِعَ هَذَا الْخَبَرَ الْمُرَقَّعُ بْنُ صَيْفِيٍّ ، عَنْ حَنْظَلَةَ الْكَاتِبِ ، وَسَمِعَهُ مِنْ جَدِّهِ ، وَجَدُّهُ رِيَاحٌ الرَّبِيعُ ، وَهُمَا مَحْفُوظَانِ .
Sayyiduna Hanzalah Katib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We participated in a battle along with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) passed by a slain woman around whom people had gathered. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: She does not take part in fighting. Go to Khalid and tell him not to kill children and servants. (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) Marqa’ bin Saifi heard this narration from Sayyiduna Hanzalah Katib (may Allah be pleased with him). He also heard this narration from his grandfather. His grandfather is Sayyiduna Riyah bin Rabi’ (may Allah be pleased with him). Both these narrations are preserved.
