أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَيَّانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَوْنٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ حُنَيْنٍ أَقْبَلَتْ هَوَازِنُ وَغَطَفَانُ بِذَرَارِيِّهِمْ وَنَعَمِهِمْ ، وَمَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَشْرَةُ آلافٍ ، وَمَعَهُ الطُّلَقَاءُ ، فَأَدْبَرُوا عَنْهُ حَتَّى بَقِيَ وَحْدَهُ ، قَالَ : فَنَادَى يَوْمَئِذٍ نِدَاءَيْنِ لَمْ يَخْلِطْ بَيْنَهُمَا شَيْئًا ، فَالْتَفَتَ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ ، وَقَالَ : " يَا مَعْشَرَ الأَنْصَارِ ، فَقَالُوا : لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَبْشِرْ نَحْنُ مَعَكَ ، فَالْتَفَتَ إِلَى يَسَارِهِ ، وَقَالَ : يَا مَعْشَرَ الأَنْصَارِ ، فَقَالُوا : لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَبْشِرْ نَحْنُ مَعَكَ ، قَالَ وَهُوَ عَلَى بَغْلَةٍ بَيْضَاءَ فَنَزَلَ ، وَقَالَ : أَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولُهُ ، فَانْهَزَمَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ ، فَأَصَابَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَنَائِمَ كَثِيرَةً ، فَقَسَمَ فِي الْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَالطُّلَقَاءِ ، وَلَمْ يُعْطِ الأَنْصَارَ شَيْئًا ، فَقَالَتِ الأَنْصَارُ : إِذَا كَانَ فِي الشِّدَّةِ فَنَحْنُ ، وَيُعْطِي الْغَنِيمَةَ غَيْرَنَا ، فَبَلَغَهُ ذَلِكَ ، فَجَمَعَهُمْ فِي قُبَّةٍ ، وَقَالَ : يَا مَعْشَرَ الأَنْصَارِ ، مَا حَدِيثٌ بَلَغَنِي ؟ فَسَكَتُوا ، فَقَالَ : يَا مَعْشَرَ الأَنْصَارِ ، أَمَا تَرْضَوْنَ أَنْ يَذْهَبَ النَّاسُ بِالشَّاءِ وَتَذْهَبُونَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، إِلَى بُيُوتِكُمْ ؟ قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، رَضِينَا ، قَالَ : لَوْ سَلَكَ النَّاسُ وَادِيًا وَسَلَكَتِ الأَنْصَارُ شِعْبًا لأَخَذْتُ شِعْبَ الأَنْصَارِ " .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the occasion of the Battle of Hunayn came, the people of the Hawazin tribe and the people of the Ghatafan tribe came along with their families and belongings. There were ten thousand people with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Among those with him were also people who had newly accepted Islam. Those people left the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and retreated, until the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was left alone. The narrator states: On that day, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) called out loudly twice; there was nothing between him and them as a barrier. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) turned to his right and said: O group of Ansar! So the people said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! We are present, may you be pleased, we are with you. Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) turned to his left and said: O group of Ansar! So those people said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), we are present. Do not worry, we are with you. The narrator states: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was riding his white mule, he dismounted from it and said: I am the servant of Allah and His Messenger. So the polytheists were put to flight. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) obtained a great amount of war booty, and he distributed that wealth among the Muhajirun and those who had newly become Muslims. He did not give anything to the Ansar. At this, the Ansar said: When difficulty came, we were called, and the war booty you gave to others. When this news reached the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), he gathered those people in a tent and said: O group of Ansar! What is this matter that has reached me? They remained silent. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O group of Ansar, are you not pleased that people take away sheep and goats, and you take Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) to your homes? They said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! We are pleased. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If people walk in one valley and the Ansar walk in another valley, I will choose the valley of the Ansar.
