Hadith 4713

أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ قَبِيصَةَ بْنِ ذُؤَيْبٍ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ أَكْتُبُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " اكْتُبْ : لا يَسْتَوِي الْقَاعِدُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُجَاهِدُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ " ، قَالَ : فَجَاءَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنِّي أُحِبُّ الْجِهَادَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَبِي مِنَ الزَّمَانَةِ مَا تَرَى قَدْ ذَهَبَ بَصَرِي ، قَالَ زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ : فَثَقُلَتْ فَخِذُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى فَخِذِي حَتَّى خَشِيتُ أَنْ تَرَفَّضَ ، فَلَمَّا سُرِّيَ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : " اكْتُبْ : لا يَسْتَوِي الْقَاعِدُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ غَيْرُ أُولِي الضَّرَرِ وَالْمُجَاهِدُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ سورة النساء آية 95 " .
Sayyiduna Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I used to write (revelation) for the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You should write this down. "Those believers who sit back (i.e., do not participate in jihad) are not equal." "And those who strive in the way of Allah." The narrator states: During this, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umm Maktum (may Allah be pleased with him) came. He said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! I love to strive in the way of Allah, but I have a disability which you can see, that my eyesight is gone. Sayyiduna Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Then the knee of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), which was on my thigh, became so heavy that I feared my leg might break. When this state of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) ended, he said: Write this down. "Those believers who sit back, except those who have a disability, and those who strive in the way of Allah, are not equal."
