أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ صَعْصَعَةُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَمُّ الأَحْنَفِ : أَتَيْتُ أَبَا ذَرٍّ بِالرَّبَذَةِ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ ، مَا مَالُكَ ؟ قَالَ : مَالِي عَمَلِي . فَقُلْتُ حَدَّثَنَا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدِيثًا سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْهُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " مَنْ أَنْفَقَ زَوْجَيْنِ مِنْ مَالِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ابْتَدَرَتْهُ خَزَنَةُ الْجَنَّةِ " . قَالَ : قُلْتُ : وَمَا زَوْجَانِ ؟ قَالَ : فَرْسَانِ مِنْ خَيْلِهِ ، بَعِيرَانِ مِنْ إِِبِلِهِ ، عَبْدَانِ مِنْ رَقِيقِهِ . قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : الْعَرَبُ فِي لُغَتِهَا تُسَمِّي الْفَرْدَيْنِ الْمُتَلازِمَيْنِ زَوْجَيْنِ ، قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : وَمِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقْنَا زَوْجَيْنِ سورة الذاريات آية 49 .
Sa’sa’ah bin Mu’awiyah, who is the uncle of Sayyiduna Ahnaf bin Qais (may Allah be pleased with him), narrates: I visited Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) in “Rabadha.” I asked: O Sayyiduna Abu Dharr, what is your wealth? He replied: My wealth is my deeds. I said: Please narrate to us a hadith from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) which you heard directly from him. He said: I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: “Whoever spends a pair of anything from his wealth in the way of Allah, the gatekeepers of Paradise rush towards him.” (The narrator says) I asked: What is meant by a pair? He replied: That he gives two horses from his horses, or two camels from his camels, or two slaves from his slaves. (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) In their idiom, the Arabs use the word “pair” for two similar things. Allah Almighty has also said: “And We have created pairs of everything.”
