Aamir bin Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas narrates from his father (Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas, may Allah be pleased with him): A man came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was leading us in prayer. When that man reached the row, he made this supplication: “O Allah! Grant me the most virtuous thing among all that You have bestowed upon Your righteous servants (i.e., grant me the most virtuous thing).” When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) completed the prayer, he inquired: “Who spoke just now?” That man replied: “O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! It was I.” The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “In that case, your horse’s legs will be cut and you will be martyred in the way of Allah.”
