Hadith 461

Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Once we were present with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). A messenger came from one of his daughters. He said: O Messenger of Allah! Your daughter has sent you this message that you should come to her, because her son is about to die. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Go to her and tell her that whatever Allah takes back belongs to Him, and whatever He gives also belongs to Him, and everything has a fixed term in His presence. Therefore, she should be patient and hope for reward. The narrator says: After a while, that person returned and said: O Messenger of Allah! She is insisting by oath that you must come to her. So the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) stood up, and we also stood up with him. Some of the Ansar were with us. We went to her, and the child was presented to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and his breath was rattling in his chest. Tears flowed from the eyes of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! What is this? The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "This is mercy, which Allah has placed in the hearts of His servants, and Allah only shows mercy to those of His servants who are merciful."
