Zaid bin Aslam narrates: Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) came to Ibn Muti’ during the nights of “Harrah.” So he (Ibn Muti’) said: Place a cushion for Abu Abdur Rahman (i.e., Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both). But Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I have not come here to sit; I have come to say two things to you which I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: “Whoever withdraws his hand from obedience (to the ruler), he will have no proof for himself on the Day of Resurrection, and whoever dies having separated from the congregation (of Muslims), he dies the death of ignorance (Jahiliyyah).”
