Hadith 4565

أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ سَلْمٍ الأَصْبَهَانِيُّ بِالرَّيِّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِصَامِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَجْلانَ مَوْلَى مُرَّةَ الطَّيِّبِ وَلَقَبُهُ جَبْرٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يُبَايِعُنَا عَلَى السَّمْعِ وَالطَّاعَةِ ، ثُمَّ يُلَقِّنُنَا : فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to take allegiance from us on obedience and submission, then he (peace be upon him) would instruct us: "As much as you are able (act upon it)."
