Sayyiduna Ma’qil bin Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the day of Hudaybiyyah, we pledged allegiance to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on his blessed hand. I was lifting a branch of a tree away from the face of the Prophet (peace be upon him). We pledged allegiance to him that we would not flee. We did not pledge allegiance to him upon death. (The narrator says: We asked Sayyiduna Ma’qil (may Allah be pleased with him): How many were you at that time? He replied: One thousand four hundred.)
