Sayyiduna Bara’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the occasion of the Battle of Ahzab, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was carrying earth with us. The whiteness of his stomach was covered with dust, and he (peace be upon him) was reciting this poem: “O Allah! If it were not for You, we would not have received guidance, nor given charity, nor performed prayer. So send down tranquility upon us, and make us steadfast when we meet the enemy. Indeed, those people have attacked us. If they intend to put us to trial, we will not yield to them.” The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was reciting these verses in a loud voice.
