Hadith 453

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَرُوبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مَخْلَدُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ السَّلْمَسِينِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُصْعَبُ بْنُ مَاهَانَ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ أَسْمَاءَ سَأَلَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، عَنْ أُمٍّ لَهَا مُشْرِكَةٍ ، قَالَتْ : جَاءَتْنِي رَاغِبَةً رَاهِبَةً ، أَصِلُهَا ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " .
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Lady Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) about her mother, who was a polytheist. She said: She has come to me hoping for something, so should I maintain ties of kinship with her? The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Yes.
