Ibn Hibban

Sayyiduna Salamah bin Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I left (my house) before the call to prayer was given. The camels of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) were at that time moving at the place of Dhi Qarad. I met the slave of Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him). He informed me: The camels of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) have been captured. I asked: Who has captured them? He replied: The people of the tribe of Ghatafan have captured them. Sayyiduna Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I shouted loudly, “There is danger!” My voice reached the whole of Madinah Munawwarah. Then I ran straight ahead until I reached those people. They were watering (their animals) at that time. I started shooting arrows at them. I was a very good archer. Along with this, I was also saying, “I am the son of Akwa’, and today is the day of destruction for the wicked people.” (Sayyiduna Salamah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates) Until I recovered the camels from them. I also obtained thirty cloaks from them. During this, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and other people arrived. I submitted: May my parents be sacrificed for you! I had surrounded those people at the water. They are thirsty. If you send someone after them right now (they can be captured). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: O son of Akwa’, you have succeeded, so that is enough. By now, those people would have reached the tribe of Ghatafan. The narrator says: Then we set out. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made me ride behind him on his camel, until we entered Madinah Munawwarah.
