أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَعْشَرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ وَهْبِ بْنِ أَبِي كَرِيمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمَلِيحِ الْهُذَلِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى الأَشْعَرِيِّ ، قَالَ : جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِِلَى نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَتْ : قَدْ أَحْدَثْتُ وَهِيَ حُبْلَى ، فَأَمَرَهَا نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ تَذْهَبَ حَتَّى تَضَعَ مَا فِي بَطْنِهَا ، فَلَمَّا وَضَعَتْ جَاءَتْ ، فَأَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَذْهَبَ فَتُرْضِعَهُ حَتَّى تَفْطِمَهُ ، فَفَعَلَتْ ، ثُمَّ جَاءَتْ فَأَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَدْفَعَ وَلَدَهَا إِِلَى أُنَاسٍ ، فَفَعَلَتْ ، ثُمَّ جَاءَتْ ، فَسَأَلَهَا : " إِِلَى مَنْ دَفَعَتْ " ، فَأَخْبَرَتْ أَنَّهَا دَفَعْتُهُ إِِلَى فُلانٍ ، فَأَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَأْخُذَهُ وَتَدْفَعَهُ إِِلَى آلِ فُلانٍ نَاسٍ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ ، ثُمَّ إِِنَّهَا جَاءَتْ ، فَأَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَشُدَّ عَلَيْهَا ثِيَابَهَا ، ثُمَّ إِِنَّهُ أَمَرَ بِهَا فَرُجِمَتْ ، ثُمَّ إِِنَّهُ كَفَّنَهَا وَصَلَّى عَلَيْهَا ، ثُمَّ دَفَنَهَا ، فَقَالَ النَّاسُ : رَجَمَهَا ، ثُمَّ كَفَّنَهَا وَصَلَّى عَلَيْهَا ، ثُمَّ دَفَنَهَا ، فَبَلَغَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا يَقُولُ النَّاسُ ، فَقَالَ : " لَقَدْ تَابَتْ تَوْبَةً لَوْ قُسِمَتْ تَوْبَتُهَا بَيْنَ سَبْعِينَ رَجُلا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ لَوَسِعَتْهُمْ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A woman came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him: I have committed adultery, and she was also pregnant. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered her to go and first give birth to the child in her womb. When she gave birth, she came again. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Go and nurse the child until the child is weaned. The woman did so, and then she came again. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered her to entrust her child to someone and then come. The woman did so. She came again, so the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) asked her: To whom did you entrust the child? The woman replied: I entrusted him to so-and-so. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered her to take the child from them and hand him over to the family of so-and-so. This order was given regarding some people from the Ansar. Then the woman came, and the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered her to tie her clothes firmly. Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the order regarding her, and she was stoned to death. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) gave her a shroud, performed her funeral prayer, and then buried her. People said: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) first had her stoned, then gave her a shroud, then performed her funeral prayer, and then buried her. When this was reported to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) that people were saying this, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: This woman has repented in such a way that if her repentance were distributed among seventy people of Madinah, it would be sufficient for all of them.
