Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: An Aslami man came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He testified four times about committing adultery regarding himself. He said: I have had unlawful intercourse with a woman. The Prophet (peace be upon him) kept turning away from him, until when he came for the fifth time, the Prophet (peace be upon him) asked him: Did you have intercourse with that woman? He replied: Yes. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked: Did your private part disappear into her private part just as a kohl stick disappears into a kohl container or a rope goes down into a well? He replied: Yes. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked: Do you know what adultery is? He replied: Yes, I have unlawfully done with that woman what a man lawfully does with his wife. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked: What do you want by saying this? He said: I want you (peace be upon him) to purify me. So the Prophet (peace be upon him) ordered regarding him that he be stoned to death, and he was stoned. The Prophet (peace be upon him) heard two men from among his companions, one of whom was saying to his companion: Look at this man, Allah had concealed him, but he put himself in such a state that he was stoned like a dog. The narrator says: The Prophet (peace be upon him) remained silent at their words. Then he passed by a dead donkey whose leg was raised upwards. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked: Where are so-and-so and so-and-so? They replied: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! We are here. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to them: Both of you eat from the carcass of this donkey. They said: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! May Allah forgive you, who can eat this? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: The attack you made on that man's honor a little while ago is worse than eating this carcass. By Him in Whose hand is my soul, that man is now in the rivers of Paradise.
