Hadith 4357

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لا تَحْلِفُوا بِآبَائِكُمْ ، وَلا بِأُمَّهَاتِكُمْ ، وَلا بِالأَنْدَادِ ، وَلا تَحْلِفُوا إِِلا بِاللَّهِ ، وَلا تَحْلِفُوا إِِلا وَأَنْتُمْ صَادِقُونَ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not swear by the names of your fathers, your mothers, or by the names of your idols. You should only swear by the name of Allah, and you should only swear when you are truthful."
