أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الشَّعْثَاءِ هُوَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنْ بَشَّارِ بْنِ كِدَامٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِِنَّمَا الْحَلِفُ حَنِثٌ أَوْ نَدَمٌ " . قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ : لَيْسَ لِبَشَّارٍ حَدِيثٌ مُسْنَدٌ غَيْرُ هَذَا ، وَهُوَ أَخُو مِسْعَرِ بْنِ كِدَامٍ ، وَأَبُو الشَّعْثَاءِ : عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ وَاسْطِيٌّ ثِقَةٌ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "An oath either has to be broken or it leads to regret." (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) Other than this narration, there is no other "marfu'" hadith reported from the narrator named Bashar. He is the brother of Mis'ar bin Kidam. The narrator named Abu Sha'sha' is Ali bin Husayn bin Sulaiman al-Wasiti; this narrator is trustworthy.
