Hadith 4330

أَخْبَرَنَا إِِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ إِِسْمَاعِيلَ بِبُسْتَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنِ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ أَخِي بَنِي فِهْرٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " وَاللَّهِ مَا الدُّنْيَا فِي الآخِرَةِ إِِلا كَمَا يَجْعَلُ أَحَدُكُمْ إِِصْبَعَهُ فِي الْيَمِّ فَلْيَنْظُرْ بِمَ تَرْجِعُ " .
Sayyiduna Mustawrid bin Shaddad (may Allah be pleased with him), who belonged to Banu Fihr, narrates: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "By Allah! The example of this world in comparison to the Hereafter is just like when a person dips his finger into the river and then observes what it returns with."
