Hadith 433

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ الرَّمَادِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ الْقَعْقَاعِ ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَنْ أَحَقُّ النَّاسِ بِحُسْنِ الصُّحْبَةِ ؟ قَالَ : " أُمُّكَ " ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ مَنْ ؟ قَالَ : " أُمُّكَ " ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ مَنْ ؟ قَالَ : " أَبُوكَ " ، قَالَ : فَيَرَوْنَ أَنَّ لِلأُمِّ ثُلُثَيِ الْبِرِّ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He asked: O Messenger of Allah! Who is most deserving of good treatment? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Your mother. He asked: Then who? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Your mother. He asked: Then who? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Your father. The narrator says: The scholars are of the opinion that two-thirds of good treatment should be given to the mother.
