Hadith 4324

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ شُمَيْلٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " كُنَّا نَبِيعُ أُمَّهَاتِ الأَوْلادِ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ عُمَرُ نَهَى عَنْ بَيْعِهِنَّ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: During the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), we used to sell Umm Walad slave women. When the era of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came, he forbade selling them.
