Hadith 4299

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ بن عبد الحميد ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ إِِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ ، عَنْ أَبِي السَّنَابِلِ ، قَالَ : " وَضَعَتْ سُبَيْعَةُ حَمْلَهَا بَعْدَ وَفَاةِ زَوْجِهَا بِثَلاثَةٍ وَعِشْرِينَ أَوْ خَمْسَةٍ وَعِشْرِينَ لَيْلَةً ، فَلَمَّا وَضَعَتْ تَشَوَّفَتِ الأَزْوَاجَ ، فَعِيبَ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهَا ، فَذُكِرَ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " وَمَا يَمْنَعُهَا وَقَدِ انْقَضَى أَجَلُهَا " .
Abu Sanabil reports: Sayyida Subai'a (may Allah be pleased with her) gave birth to a child twenty-three or perhaps twenty-five days after her husband's death. When she gave birth to the child, she adorned herself to get married. This was objected to. This matter was mentioned to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), so he said: What is there now to prevent her, when her waiting period has ended?
