Hadith 427

أَخْبَرَنَا الصُّوفِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْجَعْدِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : كَانَتْ تَحْتِي امْرَأَةٌ وَكُنْتُ أُحِبُّهَا ، وَكَانَ أَبِي يَكْرَهُهَا ، فَأَمَرَنِي بِطَلاقِهَا ، فَأَبَيْتُ ، فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ عُمَرُ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ طَلِّقْهَا " .
Hamzah bin Abdullah narrates from his father: I had a wife whom I loved very much, but my father did not like her. He instructed me to divorce her. I did not comply with his request. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) mentioned this to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Abdullah! Divorce that woman.
