Hadith 419

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ زُهَيْرٍ الْحَافِظُ السَّرَّادُ بِتُسْتُرَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ الْبَحْرَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، وَسُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ ، وَسُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، وَحَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا عَطَاءُ بْنُ السَّائِبِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ ، فقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنِّي أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُبَايِعَكَ عَلَى الْهِجْرَةِ ، وَتَرَكْتُ أَبَوَيَّ يَبْكِيَانِ ، فقَالَ : " ارْجِعْ إِلَيْهِمَا ، فَأَضْحِكْهُمَا كَمَا أَبْكَيْتَهُمَا " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man came and said: O Messenger of Allah! I want to pledge allegiance to you for migration. I have left my parents weeping. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Go back to them and make them laugh just as you made them weep.
