أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ أَنَّهَا ، قَالَتْ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، هَلْ لَكَ فِي دُرَّةَ بِنْتِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : " أَصْنَعُ بِهَا مَاذَا ؟ " ، قَالَتْ تَنْكِحُهَا ، قَالَ : " وَهَلْ تَحِلُّ لِي ؟ " ، قَالَتْ : وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ أُخْبِرْتُ أَنَّكَ تَخْطِبُ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ زَيْنَبَ تَحْرُمُ عَلَيَّ ، وَإِنَّهَا فِي حِجْرِي ، وَأَرْضَعَتْنِي وَإِيَّاهَا ثُوَيْبَةُ ، فَلا تَعْرِضْنَ عَلَيَّ بَنَاتِكُنَّ ، وَلا أَخَوَاتِكُنَّ ، وَلا عَمَّاتِكُنَّ ، وَلا خَالاتِكُنَّ ، وَلا أُمَّهَاتِكُنَّ " .
Sayyida Zaynab bint Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates regarding Sayyida Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her): She said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Are you interested in Durrah bint Abu Sufyan?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "What would I do with her?" Sayyida Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her) said, "You may marry her." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Is she lawful for me?" Sayyida Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her) said, "By Allah! I have heard that you wish to send a marriage proposal to Zaynab bint Umm Salamah." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Zaynab is unlawful for me; she is under my guardianship (that is, she is my stepdaughter), and both I and she were breastfed by Thuwaibah. Do not present your daughters, your sisters, your paternal aunts, your maternal aunts, and your mothers to me for marriage proposals."
