Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: A man came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) who had quarreled with his father because of a debt that was obligatory upon his father. So the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "You and your wealth belong to your father." (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says: This means that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) forbade this person from treating his father in the manner that is reserved for strangers, and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) commanded him to do good to his father and to be gentle in speech and action, to the extent that he included his wealth with his father's, and he said to him: "You and your wealth belong to your father." But this does not mean that the father becomes the owner of the son's wealth while the son is alive and does not wish (that his father use his wealth without his consent).
