Hadith 4079

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُصْعَبُ بْنُ مِقْدَامٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " تُسْتَأْمَرُ الْيَتِيمَةُ فِي نَفْسِهَا ، فَإِنْ سَكَتَتْ فَهُوَ رِضَاهَا ، وَإِنَّ أَبَتْ فَلا جَوَازَ عَلَيْهَا " .
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): "The consent of a virgin girl regarding herself will be sought; if she remains silent, then this will be considered her approval, and if she refuses, then she cannot be forced."
