Hadith 4060

أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ ، وَالْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ ، قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الطَّوِيلِ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ جَاءَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَبِهِ أَثَرُ صُفْرَةٍ ، فَسَأَلَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ تَزَوَّجَ امْرَأَةً مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كَمْ سُقْتَ إِلَيْهَا ؟ " ، قَالَ : زِنَةُ نَوَاةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَوْلِمْ وَلَوْ بِشَاةٍ " .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and there was a yellow mark on him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) inquired from him (about this mark). He informed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he had married an Ansari woman. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him: How much dowry did you give her? He replied: Gold equal to the weight of a date stone. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: Give a wedding feast, even if it is with a single goat (by sacrificing and inviting people).
