Hadith 406

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْحَنْظَلِيُّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا الْمُلائِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ جُنْدُبًا ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَلَمْ أَسْمَعْ أَحَدًا غَيْرَهُ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَدَنَوْتُ قَرِيبًا مِنْهُ ، فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ سَمَّعَ يُسَمِّعُ اللَّهُ بِهِ ، وَمَنْ رَاءَى يُرَائِي اللَّهُ بِهِ " .
Salamah bin Kuhail narrates: I heard Sayyiduna Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) saying: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said this: I had not heard anyone else saying that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said this, so I moved closer to Sayyiduna Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him). I heard him saying that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever acts for fame, Allah will make his fame known, and whoever acts for show, Allah will make his show apparent."
