Hadith 4057

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا الْمُسْتَلِمُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ زَاذَانَ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ قُرَّةَ ، عَنْ مَعْقِلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، أَنَّ رَجُلا جَاءَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنِّي أَصَبْتُ امْرَأَةً ذَاتَ جَمَالٍ ، وَإِنَّهَا لا تَلِدُ ، قَالَ : أَأَتَزَوَّجُهَا ؟ فَنَهَاهُ ، ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ الثَّانِيَةَ ، فَنَهَاهُ ، ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ الثَّالِثَةَ ، فَنَهَاهُ ، وَقَالَ : " تَزَوَّجِ الْوَدُودَ الْوَلُودَ ، فَإِنِّي مُكَاثِرٌ بِكُمْ " .
Sayyiduna Ma’qil bin Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! I want to marry a beautiful woman, but she does not have the ability to bear children. Should I marry her? The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade him. He came to you a second time, and you again forbade him. He came to you a third time, and you again forbade him. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Marry a loving and child-bearing woman, for I will boast of your numbers on the Day of Resurrection.
