Hadith 3997

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ الْبَزَّارُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ أَبِي شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ لا يَسْتَطِيعُ الْحَجَّ ، أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ ؟ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " نَعَمْ فَحُجَّ عَنْ أَبِيكَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: A man came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! My father is an old, elderly man who does not have the ability to travel for Hajj. Can I perform Hajj on his behalf? The narrator states: So the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Yes! Perform Hajj on behalf of your father.
